Could I have ovarian fragment syndrome?

Hi, I had a total hysterectomy with both ovaries removed 9 months ago.  I had severe endometriosis and my left ovary was sealed to my pelvic wall which they had trouble removing and took it away in slithers.  I have never experienced menopause symptoms and a recent blood test shows my FSH to be 12.8 and my estrogen to be 253.  I would have expected my FSH to be higher than this.  I have had bad pain again - is it possible that these numbers could suggest ovarian fragment syndrome?

Your best bet is to see another surgeon however that would depend if you would want to go that route or not. I can find you one in your area that specializes in Endo. It's sad that your surgeon is clearly not even listening and sometimes they do that to save face it's sad for you because it then makes you feel like you're going crazy. I am having a hyster on Friday with a specialist and my worry was hrt as well as I want to do it without any.

The hospital I had my surgery at has a lot of people suing it for negligence just now so I think the minute I questioned anything my surgeon panicked and got very defensive. He did speak to me like I didn't know what I was talking about, very condescending. To be honest I really don't want to face surgery again so I'd rather manage the pain at least until it becomes too unbearable.  Good luck with your hysterectomy, I'm sure things will go well and hope you recover well. HRT is a personal choice but with endo I believe it is a gamble and I would at least try and manage without it. There are plenty of natural ways to look after your menopause health that you can try.

Hi, thanks for replying.  I get intermittent pain in that area but my consultant wouldn't even consider that this could be a possibility.  He was adamant that he removed all my ovary and said that all my problems would be solved if I agreed to take HRT.  I had refused to take HRT because my endometriosis was severe and I didn't want to risk any estrogen.  I requested my GP run the FSH/estrogen blood test because I hadn't experienced any menopause symptoms.  My consultant insisted that I must have just dealt with them well but I wasn't convinced. Thanks again.

Yes that is what it sounds like. If the ovary was not completely removed you can have ORS (Ovarian Remnant syndrome) unfortunately this does happen pretty often with less experience. Are you in pain at all? Was this just a regular routine test to check your FSH?
