endometriosis

I had laparoscopy two weeks ago. The main reason for it infertility for 4.5 years, no pain at all. They found some moderate endometriosis outside of the uderus nothing else. Now my doctor wants to treat me with Lupron Depot 11.5 mg for 6 months and then put me on fertility drug and do IUI to get me pregnant. I am very scary of the drug Lupron I read alot of scary stories about it  and it sounds like I am going to end-up being mentally disabled. I am very afraid of it. Did someone have the same problem ? Is the Lupron so terrible?  Does it help to get pregnant after stopping using it?

I was also digonshed with endo in 2001. I tried taking Lurpon, but could not take all the side effects mood swings, hot flashes, deep depression. I thought well it will get better the longer I am on it but after 4 months I had to stop taking it.How are you and did you decided on taking the medication?

Hi There,

I too, was just as scared as you about taking the Lurpon, and for six months!!! It was the best thing I have ever done, so far!! I completed my six months of treatment in February, and within the next month my period returned.  The only side effects I experienced were weight gain and really bad headaches.  I did not have any hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats or anything.  I was on the add-back therapy to "add back" some of the hormones that are "taken out" when taking the lupron.  I would recommend asking your doctor about that, it really helped me!!
I didn't want to do the Lupron, but thought about the future and my fertility and chances of getting pregnant.  My doctor told me a handful of times that doing the lupron after the endometriosis would hopefully kill off anything else they were unable to remove when doing the surgery, and increase my chances of getting pregnant and help me be pain free for a longer period of time.
I hope this helps and I hope everythings goes well!! Best of luck.

Hi I'm on the same dosage of Lupron Depot and I'm about to get my fourth shot. The only side effects I have from it are hot flashes and joint aching. I've read some really scary things about it too but so far its been fine for me, just uncomfortable. I'm hoping to conceive after I'm finished with these shots and my period comes back so I can't help you there, but overall its not so bad. :)
