The only way not to have so many surgeries is to see an Endo specialist. They are limited but you will get relief. I can let you know the best one in your area if you are interested. Let me know.

Okay so these are the responses I got back.

1) I don't know if its normal or not. I had a D&C following the birth of my son, in February. I retained placenta and was losing far, far too much blood. They advised me that I needed a D&C but it could cause fertility issues, but what could I do? They didn't give me any other options, so I had the D&C done. As far as I understood though, its just a risk of fertility issues due to scarring. Sometimes we have to take risks and hope for the best I guess.

2) I imagine a D&C could cause adhesions/scarring inside the uterus but I don't know how high the risk of this happening is. Bleeding non-stop for 2 months is not normal.

3)  I was also told I needed to wait a minimum of 3 cycles before trying to conceive again - the lining of the uterus needs time to rebuild. So if she's planning on getting pregnant soon she should discuss when its safe with her doctor (there might be different time frames for different reasons), and when she can have sex again regardless because of the risk of infection (and the infection can lead to fertility issues).

4) oops read question wrong....she is being given a d&C...not she has had this procedure and is still bleeding two months later...wow...I am spacey today...anyway....I hope they are doing a biopsy. I am not sure why d&c. This is what they used to do a long time ago....but I think it is not normally done now for bleeding and instead they put you on bc. They do not yet know why she is bleeding. She needs an endometrial biopsy and scans done too...if she is wanting kids still...d&c can hurt the lining of your uterus. Weird. With adeno which makes you bleed sometimes like this...a d&c will not help and could make pain worse...

5) I did some reading today, for my own peace of mind, and found that Asherman's syndrome is the scarring after d&c that they are talking about. It sounds like it is rare, and if it does happen can be successfully treated. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001483.htm

6) .I more than likely have asherman's...that is what my surgeon thinks anyway...I had two d&c's ...one 10 days post partum and 1 after a miscarriage at 17 weeks. Have not bled normally since the last miscarriage. If your menses comes back full force like normal then you endometrium is more than likely fine with little scarring. If your menses is slight or non-existent then you would ask to be referred to several specialists in the US to diagnose this and help you get pregnant...there is an asherman's support group and an international site where women help women. Let me know if you want more info. Not all d&C's result in this. It is rare.

7)  If she has Adeno it will make it worse!

8) I guess I"m wondering why the doctor of the girl in the original post isn't trying continuous birth control or something less drastic first -are there other factors? Has she lost so much blood she requires a transfusion? There are two medications that can be used LIKE a D&C without the scraping and risk. I wish I had been better informed, because they can be used for excessive bleeding as well.

Let me know what you think.

What is the reasoning for a d&c? Did you have it done already or just te colposcopy? I had 2 colposcopies and a leep dr high grade cells so I can answer whatever questions you may have.

I think you mean Colposcopy? When they take a biopsy of your cervix to check for pre-cancerous cells. Let me know if this is what you mean, not sure what the D&C would have to do with that but maybe I have never heard of having that done because of high grade cells.

It's D&C, not DNC.

Dilatation and curettage.  The lining is too thick and she will scrape the excess off.  This is a very common procedure.
