hi sorry to hear about your problem, before taking viagra i would strongly recomend seeing a doc first if you have heart problems. but as you say you are able to get hard for a few secs your not impotent, so it might be a mental thing and your thinking its going to happen so it does. this could be hard for you to get over but just try not to think about it, watch some porn and just concentrate on that while your masturbating and not about it going soft.

Firstly regarding Viagra - The medication should not be used in hypersensitivity to any components of the medication. Viagra is contraindicated in patients receiving aid donor of nitrogen oxide, organic nitrates or nitrates in any form. Sildenafil enhances the hypotensive action of nitrates.
Viagra should be used with caution in anatomical deformation of the penis (including angulation,  cavernous fibrosis, Peyronie's disease), diseases which predispose to priapism (sickle cell anemia, myeloma, leukosis, thrombocytopenia), diseases manifested in bleedings, aggravation of the stomach and duodenal ulcers, hereditary pigmental rhinitis, heart failure, unstable angina, history of recent (6 month) heart attacks, stroke, severe arrhythmia, high blood pressure (more than 170/100 mm HG) and low blood pressure (less than 90/50 mm HG)

Also, Sexual activity represents a certain risk in the cardiovascular diseases. In this cases a health care provider may suggest to check the function of cardiovascular system. Sexual activity is not recommended in patients with heart failure, unstable angina, recent heart attacks, abnormal heart rates and changes in blood pressure levels.
Sildenafil exerts systemic vasodilating action causing a lowering of blood pressure. This effect is not clinically significant and does not cause any complaints in most of the patients.
Inasmuch as the concomitant use of sildenafil citrate and alpha blockers may leads to symptomatic hypotension in certain patients, sildenafil should be used with caution in patients receiving alpha- adrenoblockers. The patients taking alpha blockers may use Viagra only after stabilizing of hemodynamic indexes.

And lastly, certain drugs for cardiac disease may interact with Viagra, and if you are using them you should avoid it. The drugs are:
Calcium channel blockers like Amlodipine (Norvasc). Concomitant use of Amlodipine and Viagra may cause lowering of blood pressure.

Alpha blockers like doxazosin (Cardura®), prazosin (Minipress®), and terazosin (Hytrin®). Viagra when used in combination with alpha blockers may cause drop in blood pressure, light-headedness, dizziness, or fainting.

Nitrates (nitrogen oxide donors) should not be taken with Viagra. Concomitant use of Viagra and nitrates may cause severe drop in blood pressure.

I recommend you consult your cardiologist before using Viagra, and yes it may help in your case if it is not contraindicated.
