Avastin injection

My  husband has  had cataract surgery in both eyes, and later  ended up with detached retinia in each eye.  Today, after all the surgeries, He is having trouble with bleeding into my right eye.  This has happened about 7 times in the past 8 months.  Takes several days  to clear up.  After the 2nd incident, the surgeon lazered the eye.  Now he has him  scheduled for a avastin injection.  I am frightened that it will lead to another detached retinia, or infection, or total lose of vision.
1) Is this a standard procedure for my probllem.?
2) is it the optimnal solution.?
3)  Is there any topical solution that might help instead?
4) What are the chances it will cure the situation?
5) Should we get a second opinion?  or am I just an over anxious wife.
I thank you in advance for any answers and explinations you might offer..
Please help.

Yes the primary eye indication is choroidal neovascular membranes that bleed into the retina.

My husband is not at all concerned.  He is 71 Years old. However, Let me try these questions:
1) is this a common procedure the vein bleeding?
2) are there other or better, or safer ways of handling it at this point?
3) Any  topical solution?
4)  Should everyone, or He (who is not anxious)  get a 2nd opinion before this procedure?
I am just trying to be protective.
Thanks

Only a real in person examination can answer your questions. I would suggest you do get a second opinion for your peace of mind.  Find one at www.aao.org

or just ask the surgeon for a referral for second opinion.
