Chronic red eyes

I have been to countless eye doctors over the years.  No answer is consistent nor a solution.
I have had red eyes for over 15 years now (I am in my 30s).  I have large, blue eyes - a bit dry due to the size allowing tears to evaporate faster, and need corrective vision.  However, whether I wear clear contacts (dailies) or just wear glasses for months, I still have red eyes.  I don't drink, I have never smoked (not around it either), no illegal or Rx drugs/medication (vitamins only).   The condition is worse if I am in stores or the work environment (I think it is florescent lighting).  One doctor wanted to "plug" my eyes, another said that would not work.  One doctor has recommend that I place contact-friendly eye drops in my eyes every hour - that is not realistic (but I try my best). Lastly, one doctor told me I have a slight calcium deposit on my eyes, and I will never be able to solve the issue.  It is worth a lot of money to me to solve this.  I am always asked if I am mad, been crying, on drugs, etc. (from employees, students, hair dresser, random people).  The only times I have ever had them clear is if I accidently fall asleep with my contacts in for about 2-3 hours, then they are bright white for an hour, but that is it.  Help?

The the equation becomes DRY EYES = CHRONIC RED EYES.   This equation almost always works in middle age and older women, younger women on hormone therapy, people on diuretics, antihistimines, allergies (which are made worse by dry eyes).

Suggest you see countless + 1 ophthalmologists this time a corneal/external disease specialist and use a trial of 4 months off contacts and 4 months on ReStasis with use of a steroid drop for the first 10-14 days of therapy.

Also use the search feature and read about the other adjunct therapy for dry eyes.

Thank you, but contacts or not, the symptoms do not change.  It continues with glasses also.  I wore glasses for 4 motnhs solid (no contacts at all)  and my eyes were just as red.

So what's the mystery here:   DRY EYES + CONTACTS = CHRONIC RED EYES.
