My eye wanders outward if not focusing, what is the cause?

Hello,
i have a problem with my eyes. If i focus to look straight, everything is normal, but as soon as i relax the eyes, one wanders outward. Also I can choose with wich eye to look straight.
The normal eye dominates, but sometimes I can see a few details from the other one merging into my normal sight.
Enitially I thought it was Strabismus but as i can "control" it, I dont think thats right.
It all started in early age (about 2years old, i think, but not sure) where the eye went wandering if i was focusing my eyes on an object for too long.
Currently im 18, and the problem is still there. Especially if i try to hold eye contact with strangers, or if I'm thinking about something and not paying attention.

can you please help me identify the problem, or even give advice what to do against it?

Thank you in advance.

(English is my 3. language, sorry for mistakes)

It is strabismus. It is called intermittent exotrophia.  You need to see an eye MD ophthalmologist. If it worsens you may need eye muscle surgery
