Impact of Vomiting on Retina and Floaters

Dear Sir,

On may 19th 2017, I had a vomiting episode that occurred twice in a one hour period.

When I woke up the next morning, the number of floaters in my eyes increased manifold.

Earlier they were only visible in sunlight, now they are often visible indoors, are bigger in size and much more in number. (Especially high for my age of just 23)

A few points to note:

I am a myope with negative 2.75R and 1.75L respectively.

1. The vomiting was induced by too much alcohol.

2. I was on an antibiotic medication at the time (had a tablet 4-5 hours before the episode)

3. I was overweight and touching obesity at the time.(97 KGS, BMI 29.6)

4. I had a poor diet and was undergoing severe academic stress at the time.

Since these were new floaters, I went to 2 different ophthalmologists who said that the retina is fine with no abnormalities, and to continue with normal routine checkups.

I am 100 percent sure that the vomiting led to the floaters, as they appeared the very next morning.

Both the doctors I went to didn't pay much attention to this statement and argued that it could have been a trigger or incidental, but the retina is fine and showed no signs of abnormality.

My questions:

1. If this vomiting led to floaters, could it have caused enough trauma to cause retinal tears or detachment? Can vomiting cause RD or tears? Does it classify as 'trauma' in the RD or 'tears' sense?

2. I do not have any abnormality in my retina. No thinning. No lattice etc. No family history. Then why did the vomiting cause the vitreous to break? No one I know has got floaters from vomiting, why me?

3. Did alcohol, antibiotics, or obesity, or the combination of the 3 lead to this? I have read some reports on antibiotics and obesity increasing risk for this. (Have since quit alcohol. No longer obese)

4. Do I need to monitor this situation carefully further, or the normal yearly retinal checkups OK?

5. I also have allergic rhinitis. I take regular anti-histamine medication but sometimes I have more than 10 sneezes per day quite often. By the vomiting causing trauma logic, can sneezing so much (more than normal person)
also be harmful?

Please advise. This has taken a bad affect on my quality of life. Seeing a therapist for my anxiety, so requesting your help on this issue.

Thanks for your time.

You are obsessing again, asking a slight variation of questions you have asked more than 10 times. I'm not going to be an enabler and thus will not comment more than I have in the past
