Laser Surgery Question: Marissa 4182

marissa4182
I had laser surgery for numerous tears and holes and the surgeon decided to do both eyes at once. what should have been quick turned into an hour and I have missed 3 days of work now because I can’t see up close at all, the sun hurts my eyes so I can’t drive, and my head always throbs. I also feel like my eyelids are always heavy. I was told I would be right back to normal after this and that is definitely not the case. I work full time as well a full time student with 5 children and I feel disabled. I can’t read the textbook or see the computer to type

Except in the most urgent circumstances eye surgeons prefer not to operate on both eyes at the same time. So there must have been some urgency. You can ask your surgeon to clarify the need to do both eyes next visit. Your symptoms are the norm rather than the exception. If you use the search feature and archives you will see many postings by people who have had laser surgery for holes/tears that are uncomfortable, have pain, sensitivity to light, soreness, etc. You should call your surgeon on Monday and report this. Perhaps he might be able to prescribe some drops to make your more comfortable. Moreover ask about recovery. I suspect you are going to have some symptoms for 2-3 weeks.  If you have red top drops that dilate the eye you make need reading glasses during the recovery.
