Pain behind eye

I am 26 years old and have been having pain behind my left eye off and on for several years. It comes and goes, and can be sometimes up to six months symptom free. I have very dry eyes, am a contact leans wearer, but the dryness has been so bad in the past year that I reserve contacts for special occasions and only wear them for a few hours max, otherwise I wear my glasses. The pain almost feels like something is strained behind the eye. It is only a dull ache when the eye is not moving, but if I look too far to the right, it causes a sharp pain. I have brought this up to my optometrist while getting my yearly eye exam, but was asymptomatic at the time. He did not think anything of it, any ideas? Should I be concerned?

Yes be concerned. See an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org   ask about going on restasis.

You likley are not going to be able to continue contacts. If glasses doen't excite you ask about lasik

Use the search feature and read about dry eye treatment.
