Question about flashing lights in eyes and Nuclear Sclerosis

Hi there.

I have been going to an Opthomologist for a couple of years now in Orlando.  I was sent to him since I have been diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases and started having significant dry eyes and dry mouth, consistant with Sjogrens.  I underwent several test including the tear measuring test and was definitely diagnosed with chonic dry eye and have had collegen implants put in, but even they are not helping as much any more.  I use Restasis daily and Lotimax only if my eyes are blood read and swollen due to inflammation.

My last vist, I was told to keep using Restasis, but be more vigilant.  I don't understand what he is dictating to the nurse as he is doing my exam, but this last time he wrote down that I have Nuclear Sclerosis.  ??  Lately, every night when I turn off the lights or sometimes during the day, I see obnoxious streaks of light when I move my eyes back and forth.  I instantly get a headache and my eyes hurt.   Should I make a followup appointment with him soon, or just keep my eyes moister, if that is possible.  I do use drops during the day, but maybe not as much as I should.

Thanks!

Zee

Thank you for your reply.  I was initially diagnosed with Sjogrens.  I just didn't know if that changed.   I take Fish Oil 3 times a day along with Flax
Oil per recommendations of my Opthomologist and Cardiologist.  I'm going to my primary today to find out about the flashing.

Thanks

Nuclear sclerosis refers to aging changes in the lens of the eye that can indicate cataract formation. You are not expected to understand chart dictation. You should ask what they mean for you.

Use the search and archives to read about dry eyes. Ask you Eye MD about fish oil tables (omega three)
