Pain with Eye Movement

For the past 2 days I have had pain when I move my left eye. It hurts when I move it in any direction other than straight ahead and the pain is located behind my eye, like it's possibly my eye muscles. It feels almost like I have sprained the muscles. When I turn my eye "hard" in any direction, it is most severe, and causes me to wince. Any ideas what this could be?

It is a signal to get in to see an ophthalmologist tomorrow. Find an Eye MD near you at www.aao.org and call very early tomorrow. Ask for an emergency work in exam. Unexplained eye pain is always a clarion to see an ophthalmologist (just like chest pain)
