Discoloration around the iris - post retinal surgery

I had two surgeries in March of 2008 to re-attach the retina in my left eye. After the first surgery, a cataract formed on my lens which resulted in the removal of it during the second surgery.  Along with that was some draining of the fulid in my eye and putting in a scleral buckle.

Since the surgery, I have mild redness in the outer corner of my eye which comes and goes depending on how tired my eyes are.  But that's the least of my concerns.

I just noticed today that the area around my iris looks - a little darker than the white of my eye.  The best way to describe it?  When you walk into an old building or a room and look at the ceiling where water damage used to be...the dried area left behind? That's what it reminds me of, but it's nearly not as dark.

What could be causing this?

Thank you for your response.

I actually do have a macular pucker in my right eye that came about when I turned 23...literally right after my 23rd birthday party.

The change in iris color can happen after multiple eye surgeries.

The second problem is related to your macula.  This should improve over time.  If it gets worse, it may indicate a wrinkle (macular pucker).  It can be corrected by injections or surgery.
