Pupil Damage
I read you answer regarding Pupil Dilation after Detatched Retina surgury. My left eye was operated on after a Detatched Retina and my Pupil is permanently dialated and it looks very odd to others. Is there any type of "fix" for this situation? I was told that the doctor that did the surgury should have been more careful as to not to damage the muscles that control the pupil dilation??? Is this accurate? I would like to know if there is anything that can be do to correct this problem I know there are cosmetic contact lenses, but is there anything permanant? 1. Damage to the pupil with RD surgery is most always unavoidable.
2. If the pupil is made smaller with a pursestring type suture then it will not dilates and is always small making the retina hard to check the retina.
3. Sometimes a drop (pilocarpine) can be used to make the pupil small.
