Retinal disorder of perceiving light?

Dear Doctor,
I have posted here before about my eye flashers. I have had a complete dilated eye exam with an eye MD who noticed a small retinal tear, but said my persistent flashes might not be related. However, my question deals with another issue:
Is there such a condition where one's eyes do not adjust quickly enough to light and dark conditions? This may be in my head, but I've noticed that if I am looking at a computer screen, or projector, or any type of light, when I look away, I can see an outline of the image.
I know that this is a normal phenomenon, however, I am wondering if any conditions present in a hypersensitivity of adjusting to light? It seems that any type of light leaves an imprint when I look away, or any type of contrasting image...not just really bright lights.

Thank you in advance

T2oo5,

I have to say you are wrong.   After images CAN be sign of disease.  This is in fact how I started to notice I had real problems.  I kept telling my eye MD after the prolonged photic stress, and I every time heard "this is normal".   Obviously a healthy eye will recover from this photic excitement in no time, an unhealthy eye can have problems with this cycle, and cause extended images.   I have autoimmune retinopathy, the afterimages keeps getting worse (one symptom).  Trust your own eyes.

You are describing an "after-image" a normal function of the eye.

That is not a sign of disease.

There is a long list of diseases like cataracts that can make the eye sensitive to light (photophobia) but it doesn't prolong afterimages
