Traumatic hyphema and mydriasis

Hi,

New to this.. My 6 year old son 5 weeks ago was hit  in the eye with a tennis ball he was diagnosed with traumatic hyphema. His vision has Thank Gd returned, but his pupil has not contracted. We have been off the drops for a week and a half. Do children have a better rate of healing even just a bit from mydriasis.. What are treatments out there?

Hi, batsheva18. I think that we´re the recent cases facing this kind of issue. I got my one 2.5 months ago. Is your Son´s iris (the injuried one) a perfect circle ?

Please, take a look at this forum, I think that good resources are there, even from Dr. John.

Remember some of the possible effects of traumatic hyphema can develop at a much later date this includes: traumatic-glaucoma/retinal detachment/cataract.

It will be at least 3-6 months before you know how much recovery, if any, the constricting muscle of the iris will make.

There are no good treatments.  Drops that constrict the pupil such as pilocarpine blur the vision and could increase risk of RD.

Most cases improve, some completely
