A Wesin ring is a circular piece of protein where the back jellow like material (vitreous) was attached to the optic nerve. When due to injury or a PVD it pulls off it creates a supersize floater.
In many cases it will settle to the back of the eye and is no longer seen, or it may drift forward towards the nose and the shadown it casts on the retina is ill defined and easy to ignore.
Lastly the brain's neuro-adaptive mechanisms we often just "tune it out" after a period of days to weeks .
If you are curious you can go to Google Images and search "Weiss Ring".

Thanks. So there's no way to predict which of the 3 possibilties will occur and when??? As for the brief flashes when it's dark, do u agree with my opthamologist's statement that they will disappear approximately 2 weeks after the initial onset?
1. No way to predict.
