Will the affected retina area be healed after retina detachment surgery?

I was diagnosed with Macular hole because high degrees of myopia.  With a vitrectomy I had retina detachment with water seep thru the hole between the membranes.  That's how I understand from the specialist's explanation.  Then he fixed the detachment and fill oil to close the hole and heal my eye.  After 12 weeks, the dark patches are still there. It gets lighter Only in the light.  Specialist took this oil out and fill in with a heavier oil and hope to heal my eye.  It's been 2 weeks and I cannot tell if it's better yet.

Anyone out there have this problem?  Please share your experience.  Doctor, based on your knowledge and experiences, Will my eye recovers from this and if I can do anything to improve my eye sight.  Thank you!!!

Thank you Doctor. I hope to correct this problem as much as specialist can fix.  I do take care of my eye.  The problem eye was my good eye.  Now I have to be extra careful.

That was my situation as well, the eye on which I had a vitrectomy was originally my "good" or dominant eye.  Thanks to the skill of my retinal specialist and some good fortune, along with subsequent cataract surgery, it has now largely returned to that status after almost two years.

Hello Mr Presley
Thank you for sharing your successful treatment.  Can you let me know if you had any black spots in your vision after the retinal detachment surgery?  I have and it's so scary.  I hope with new technology I can get this fixed.  Thanks in advance for your reply.
No black spots, I did however have the much reduced residual effect of having my vision looking like I was looking through water droplets for over a year afterward.  I have been diagnosed with cystoid macular edema in that eye, but so far no major impacts remain.

You can use the search feature and archives as there are others posts and discussions about this. the fact that the macular hole is offered as the cause of your RD indicates that it was a "full thickness hole" which means the cones that we see straight ahead with and read were damaged severely or destroyed. If the RD can be fixed and the macular hole sealed the best vision that usually occurs is about 20/100 -20/200   Always hope for better but that's the "usual"   Best thing is take superb care of you remaining eye "good" eye.
