Looking for an explant expert in NY

Hi All,

I have had my Restor implants for 9 months now and I want them removed. They have been nothing but trouble. I have vaseline vision, negative dysphotopsia (crescent-shaped shadows), halos, and my pupils are off-center. Aside from all this I still can't see, I need glasses to look at the computer, and they feel "heavy" and uncomfortable. I am looking for a doctor in NY that might be able to help me. Thanks!!

It means I've read the conversation to that point and do not have any further comment to make.  JCH MD

Pre op office visits were around $500.  The anesthesiologist was covered by insurance.   I think his surgery charge was around $6K per eye, but I also had vitrectomies, so I would expect a less complex case would be cheaper.  The surgery charge included the replacement monofocal lenses as well as several follow up appointments.

Thanks for your reply! Do you mind if I ask how much it cost?

I too had problems with my lenses (Crystalens). I had both exchanged by Dr. Richard Mackool Sr. who practices at The Mackool Eye Institute in Astoria, Queens.  He is world class.  He does not accept insurance, so I paid upfront and got out of network reimbursement from my insurance company.
