Hello,
I had dry eyes for many years more than 10 years, I have tried many different eye drops prescription and over the counter. but nothing helped.-- Electric fan, blowing car air conditioner made it worse. My eyes always hurt. I just wanted to keep it closed. Gave me eye bags as well.
Then I found Castor Oil. Cold Expressed Castor Oil is very inexpensive,
I bought mine on line. you either use an eye dropper and apply 1- 2 drops to each eye at night, or you could apply it on to both upper and lower eyelids on top of the lashes, I use my clean ring finger. It has given me the relief I needed so that's what I have been using since. This is actually a remedy from Edgar Cayce's on You tube. Several users on Earth Clinic website also mentioned good results from this for their dry eyes and eye bags. Good luck to you.
I probably should have mentioned that it does take a while for it to "kick in" as it were...
I imagine it will probably vary from person to person, but actually, in my case, i found it to be working pretty effectively after perhaps 2 weeks or so and taking even just the 1 capsule per day, it lasts actually way more then 24 hrs....i still can see the effects the next day too even before taking my next capsule...
As far as if one is better then the other in terms of the effect...in my case, i find both work equally as well so since flaxseed oil is less expensive, i have switched over to that...
It creates a nice oil layer that keeps the eyes really well lubricated...i have been like totally amazed how effective it is...and worked (for me) far better then the drops do....
When i went for my check up at my eye surgeon's office i mentioned i had been using it for about a month, and the doctor examined and confirmed the difference from the previous time he saw me...
Omega 3 especially ocean based (Fish, creel, calamari) is a great help for dry eyes but usually takes 4months or more to be effective.

I had iol implants originally, and later a lasik touch up and have dry eyes and i recently discovered that taking omega 3 supplements will give you tremendous improvement so i recommend you try that....
You should try either triple strength (fish oil) omega 3 capsules (take 1 per day) or 1000 mg flaxseed oil capsules also 1 per day (i had to switch to the flaxseed because i found i had a bit of a allergic sensitivity to the fish oils)...
When i look in the mirror i see the difference...nice oily layer of tears all the time and i am doing soooo much better now...would suggest it to anyone with dry eyes....in fact, i stopped using eye drops almost completely!
ok thank you for the suggestions doctor...i will do as u told..
It is important that you understand we cannot diagnose and treat here. We can often tell what a problem likely is and what often help. In your case we cannot.
Restasis is a prescription drop for moderate or severe dry eyes. They have an internet website.
Drops available without prescription for dry eyes are artificial tears. Ask the pharmacist to show them to you.

1. Turn off the fan 2. Look on this page or the expert forum under "Today's Pulse" and read the article on dry eyes. 3. See an Eye MD ophthalmologist as some of your complaints are not due to dry eyes. 4.
