flashig lights peripherally seen by left eye

i am 18 years old anda second year medicine student.
I suffered a whiplash injury (cervical spine) 3-4 weeks ago because of a car accident.....my orthopedic doctor have seen my X-ray on cervical and thoracic vertebrae and told me nothing is so serious to consult a neurologist because it is just whiplash injury....but nowadays i feel sided headache, rare dizziness, numbness in my left little finger and a little bit not focused(not 100% concentration)
i suffer also flashing lights that occur peripherally on my left eye...so i consulted an opthalmologist who stated the fllowing in his report:-
"fundus normal-left old operated retinal detachment and retina in place-glasses no need to be changed"
Should i be worried of brain tumor?
should i visit a neurologist?
thnx for your patience and sorry for inconvenience

Only your treating MD can tell if a MRI is needed. A RD doesn't cause headaches and numbness.

You can use the search feature and archives to learn more about flashes after posterior vitreous detachments or retinal detachments.

Your eye symptoms are not especially disturbing but the headaches, numbness etc are. Try and see a neurologist on the staff of your medical school

1. Have you had a retinal detachment operation? If not something doesn't add up.
2. Brain tumor would be very very unlikely.
3. An 18 year old second year old medical student? Where? Are you in the 6 year program at UMKC?
