post pneumatic retinoplaxy recovery

I had a RD in my right eye and had a gas bubble and laser.  The specialist says it looks fine post surgery
i.e. three weeks hence but I have wavy vision on the left side of my vision though my reading in that eye has
improved.  Is it possible to "settle" or is it only the brain that compensates?  The surgeon said it should be
ok but I still have the wavyness and it is now one month post surgery.  Can the wavyness eventually
settle?
Thank you

You've got something wrong with the macula, probably an ERM (epiretinal membrane). You should talk to your surgeon about the possibility of removing the ERM, if it greatly interferes with your vision. Although, since you're still post-op from the RD surgery, it's probably best to wait 'til your eye heals a bit more before addressing the ERM.

Another possibility aside from an ERM is macular damage, which resulted from the detached. This is more likely if you suffered a macula-off detachment. If this is the case repair is not really possible.

Either way talk with your surgeon. Or get a second opinion and request an OCT, this way any damage to the macula should be evident (but not always).
