retinal tear laser therapy post care

I spoke with my retinal specialist after my laser therapy. I feel like i am second guessing him because he has given me his time and answered my questions. But I guess I am still sad at why a 34 year old woman( me) who is near sighted (but not severe (in my opinion) or legally blind) and active gets a torn retina? Anyway.. the doctor said that my floaters will take time to drop out of the line of sight. I dont get the same flash as before i went in but i think i still see a little one every once in a while. Its in the same area and so im wondering if it takes time for the flashes to subside as well? I actually cant tell if it is a flash or a floater quickly moving from that side when i move my eye.It has been a week since the laser repaired my small hole.

And I have had to stop running for two weeks which is really bothering me. I have been squatting keeping my head still when doing household chores like loading the dishwasher and laundry. Is this ok? Or should I just stop?
Thanks.

I go in when I need reassurance, also. This retina "business." as my ex=doctor calls it, is all too sad. He doesn't get that and he does not want to, either. I know we need sober expertise, but he actually poked fun at my condition.

May this never happen to you, and may you forever have no  more retina problems, thanks to your vigilance and to future good luck.

One last point: running does not cause RD and in a study of many retina surgeons after the RD was healed virtually all allow their patient to resume running.

Thanks! I'm going to get an appointment at the two week point instead of month for peace   of mind. My eye ball seems a little sore. Its been a week and day since therapy. I think its just sinus pressure but i just want to be sure. I don't see flashes but still lots of floaters. Thanks again.

one more loaded question

Can dirt and leaves falling the eye from gardening or and wearing contact lenses incorrectly cause retinal tears?
Can never wearing sunglasses burn the retina and thin it out?
or can my sinus pressure on my eyes affect the retina?

1. You should ask your surgeon about your activities. I'm a runner so I understand running deprivation.
2. You eye will continue to need to be watched as it heals. While its sad you had to have treatment you are fortunate that the hole was found and fixed before you had an extensive retinal detachment.
