Anyone else get extra dose out of the follistim pen?

Hi all,

I am taking 150 iu follistem injections and I got 3 doses (450iu) out of one 300 iui cartrage. Has this happend to any of you? Do the put extra med in the pens?

Thanks for the advice! This was my first cycle with injections, so I wasn't 100% sure on exactly what to do...
Luckily my insurance pays for the medication, and I only pay a copay.. so I was probably only out a few bucks.  Hopefully I won't have to use it again, and I get my BFP... but if not, then I will know for next time.

AHHHHHHH - don't waste it silly! Say you have to 200 iu, then twist the knob to 200, push in as much as you can before it stops. Then when it stops you see how much you have left to put in you, take out the old needle and cartridge, pop in the new cartridge (if it is just coming out of the fridge - let it get to room temp - doesnt hurt then) , put on new needle and twist the knob to whatever number you had left to put in! :) Stick yourself and you you just saved yourself a hundred or more bucks :)

Yeah I did follistim cycle this month, and I could see there was extra in there but not sure how much... So I didn't chance it and just refilled it.

Thanks Ladies!!! Hopefully I wont have to do this again but I will always have my doctor call in several of the 300 iui pens instead of the 900iui so I get a lot more meds!!!!

It was kinda scary to think that somehow I screwed it up.

I have use the gonal F when I did this once before and I like the follistim pen WAY better!!!

Yep - same here! They always overfill it. I am told it is case someone screws up their injection:) I call it a LIFE SAVER! That's an extra days shot! YAY!
