Anyone with positive results using IUI?

My hubby and I will soon be trying IUI for the first time, after a lot of disappointment with just Clomid. I am wondering if anyone has any advice or any positive outcomes using it. The doctors give you the stats, but it's not the same as hearing the actual outcomes from people experiencing it. Also what should I expect with the injectible hormones I will have to take. (not looking forward to that).

Bare with me I am new to the site and not familiar with all the short forms yet....lol

Our family doctor referred us about 3 years ago to a RE and we have been seeing him since. He says I have borderline PCOS (I have a few symptoms-but not very many) I have been on Clomid for probably about a year or more...first they gave me too small a dosage (apparently it wasn't regulating my period the way it should) - so he  then he doubled the dosage and still nothing. Our next visit will be next month and we will be discussing IUI and injectible hormones. I don't know too much about them yet. Is that the Femara that you were referring to? I am a little nervous about this though. I guess we will get all the details when we go....sounds like a lot of appts for bloodwork and ultrasounds etc. I hate going to the doctor to begin with - now that we are going thru all this - I dislike it even more! But if it works out, it will definitely be worth it.
It just doesn't seem fair that some people have to try so hard and spend so much money just to become parents when others just pop kids out. : (  (I joke with my hubby that by the time we have a baby - we won't have to worry about the cost of raising them)  It is hard sometimes to stay positive though and very easy to get down in the dumps - and the medication sure doesn't help that!
Didn't mean to be so long winded...I just started typing and out it came (a good release)

I use clomid for 6mths with timed BDing and that did not work. At that point we moved from OBGYN to RE. My Re put me on Femara for 2 cycles w/ IUI and we had no luch there either. We have now moved on to IVF. Are you working with an RE? I know it's hard but try to stay positive. Being on this site i've learned that great things happen when you least expect it. I wish you all the best of luck.

Thanks for the input. I am having a very hard time dealing with infertility. (As I am sure alot of people on here are) It's like that's all you ever wanted in life, was to be a mom and you are not able to. Not only that, everyone you see has kids (or it seems that way, when you are not able to).  Sorry for the "feeling sorry for myself" comments.

I look forward to hearing any other stories or input about the IUI's.

Hello!   lots of people on here have gotten preggo with IUI's!   We did two cycles of femara + IUI and then the third and final one (right before we moved to IVF) we used follistim injectables +femara and got preg! unfortuantely miscarried at 9.5 weeks : (   but it did work!  which is huge! we were told we had pretyt much no chance without IVF! so we were so excited!   the only side effects i had from the injectables was a headache toward the last few days of treatment, which i hear is common,,, otherwise the side effects were no worse than oral meds! Though i hyperstimulated a little and was a little bloated, though pregnancy makes that much worse!  It was really easy to do though, and painless! GOOD LUCK! : )
