Dosage of 12.5mg of Femara - what to expect?

My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI.  We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way.  I'm just wondering what to expect?  I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts).  I had little to no side effects.

Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?

I would say to stick to the lower dose if you will not be under a doctors care.  Ask your doctor though - they should understand about wanting to try a natural cycle without IUI.

This first cycle my RE will monitor my follies to see where we are but if we get a BFN after that he said I can just use OPKs and we will stick with the dose we use this cycle.  He said he didn't think the ultrasounds were necessary in my particular case.  Femara is not known to increase risk of multiples as much as other drugs but you still want to be careful.

If you had cysts with the low dose - I wouldn't take the high dose without being monitored.  I would stick to the lower dose of Femara =)  I'm planning on that this month.
