I am on Femara this month after using clomid for some previous months.
I usually ovulate on CD 14,but my doctor has asked me to get US done on CD 13 and then I might need an HSG injection.
I wanted to know if its OK to get the HCG injection even if I don't get the US done as I will be self paying and that costs a lot.

Its great to hear from someone who has had success while taking femara! i am just getting started on provera to induce my period and begin fermara. i have tried clomid in the past no success. i have been trying naturally for the past five years with some tries with metformin for my pcos. I am so excited to know that maybe i finally may find success with femara. Thanks for the inspiration! good luck to you! :)
January 26, 2003 we saw Dr.Joseph Gianfortoni who ordered a sperm analysis on my husband and a HSG(ink test) on me.My husbands test showed low motility and my test was normal. For my March cycle he suggested we try Femara day 5-9 of my cycle.Dr said we conceived around day 12,we told everyone on April fools day we were pregnant. We had a very healthy pregnancy and very healthy baby boy on 12/3. January 2006 we started trying again for a 2nd child. We started with Clomid and tried for 6 months, then Femara for one month and both had no results on me this time.Moved me to Follistim shots for 2 months.first month 75iu and 2nd month 125iu with no luck. This month we did Femara again cycle days 5-9,HCG shot this morning and our first try of IUI tomorrow morning. I have 2 folicles per Ultra Sound (Thank you God and Femara) Left ovary follicle Sunday measured 18 and Right ovary follicle measured 14. We are both hoping and praying our IUI is a HUGE SUCCESS tomorrow morning. Our 10 year Wedding anniversary is 10/30...I can not think of a better gift....a sibling or siblings for our son and a wonderful addition to our family! Best of Luck Everyone!!! Hanover, Virginia

Thank you so much...everyone is so encouraging. I won't be using any injections right now, but since I'm waiting til Feb for my IVF...the doc thought I might want to try the Femara. Anything to help our natural attempts right now is alright too. ;o) Btw...Congratulations to you on the Pregnancy of your babygirl. Continued excitement to you & a Fantastic, healthy Pregnancy & Beautiful-Joyfilled Delivery. ;o)
Good afternoon!
I used fermara for two IUI cycles. The first time I was only on the fermara and I produced 3 really good sized follies, but the IUI didn't work. I had a lot of spotting the week after the IUI do I don't think the trigger shot was affective. I think I ovulated to late for the IUI to work.
The next cycle I was on Fermara and Follistim injections. It was a great combination as I had 5 really good sized follies and 2 smaller ones. The IUI took and I am currently 21W6D along with a beautiful little girl!
I know how hard TTC is and going through the fertility merry-go-round. Hang in there and good luck!!!!
bny...
thank you so very much...your post is very encouraging & helpful. ;o) Good luck with traveling w/the injectables...I've had to do that one before too. ;o)
Hello! we also have used femara, for quite a few cycles now! we have had two pregnancies (with femara +follistim and IUI) but miscarried unfortunately : ( it does have great results though, its great for endometriosis patients too, since it does overproduce estrogen like some medications.. it doesn't thin your lining like clomid, typically has fewer side effects, and doesn't strip away CM which is very important if your tying naturally (bding) it also (from the research i've done anyways) seems to have a lower miscarriage rate than clomid.. GOOD LUCK i hope that is what does the trick for ya! : )
Thank you Ladies so much. I thought there were more ladies who tried it, but guess not. I so appreciate you sharing your stories & candie...thanks for the sites. Have a Great Day.

Your OBGYN is right. Mine also had me use Femara for 4 cycles to try to increase our chances since I am in the dreaded "unexplained" category. It worked great for me, I O'd consistently, and had minimal side effects (just headaches and hot flashes here and there). We didn't end up with our BFP, but I have seen a lot of women who have with the Femara. Here are two information packets on it. I don't have any affiliation with the infertility center that published them, but I found them through an internet search and they are really informative. Good luck to you! :)

I had success my 2nd month on femara. Sadly that pregnancy ended at 11 1/2 weeks. Don't really know why. Before that I had done clomid/iui's, ivf with chemical pregnancy, and failed fet. With the femara we were also trying "naturally", so i do think it can work well. I am now on my third round of it again after my mc. Hoping for a bfp on Christmas, if not then i am moving on to injectables. Good luck with the femara!!
