Femara and Clomid

Hi Ladies,

Has anyone tried Femara for ovulation instead of clomid? I had 6 IUIs using clomid before and got pregnant but unfortunately  I miscarry at 6 wks at most. So my doc suggested Femara on my CD 2 for five days just as Clomid. I was supposed to have an IUI on Tuesday. I had an E2 test yesterday counted 61.94 though I developed 5 eggs ,he said it's low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara!
Any help will be appreciated !

thanks

I had my IUI yesterday! starting my TWW and trying not to get so nervous, hoping I can make it this time ! Is it your first time to have an IUI? You'll get ovarian stimulation like clomid or femara or may be injections starting from CD2 for five days, then when u have mature eggs the doc will inject u with semen fluid through the vagina . It is not painful at all and the pregnancy occurs naturally I guess. The only advantage is that you develop many eggs and they get the semen fluid so close to the tubes. I'm now on folic acid, aspirin, progestrone pills, calcium and magnesium supplies plus the blood thinner. It's a matter of God's Will. I'm praying and hoping for a successful pregnancy this time !
wishing you, myself and all those TTC the best of luck !

Thank you so much for the information ! I had another E2 test (Estradiol) yesterday which turned out to be 219.5 , my doc said that it was getting better and doubling so he suggested I have an IUI TOMORROW !!!! SO HELP ME GOD! may be Femara takes a longer time to get mature eggs. The real cause of my miscarriages is that I have a blood clotting disorder and I'M having a treatment for that hopefully it works out this time! I'm really nervous so wish me luck ! Baby dust to all of us !!!

I got pregnant with Femara after Clomid did not work for me. I am not sure about the E2 test.

When I went to my RE he said he was one of the original dr's that help invent the drug back in the 80's. He said he prefers using clomid still but they are very similiar drugs. The outcome should be the exact same if taking Femera or Clomid. cuz I asked if maybe I should be on that instead of clomid for ovulation. But instead he is switching my hormone completely to Gonal-F which brings my FSH where my LH is and gives me a normal cycle. Clomid would induce ovulation but not till cd17-21 and that is just too late he said. Sounds as if either your eggs aren't mature and that is why you are miscarrying or maybe low progesterine and not enough for the baby after implatation?? Im not no dr by any means though!
