My Second Opinion!

Hi my friends! I know I have been MIA but it was hard for a while to digest the news I got from my old RE..But I wanted to update all of you who know my story! Anyway I had my second opinion on Tuesday and I left crying but not from sadness but happiness..The new RE went over my records and said that alot of docs push IVF I told him that we were told that my chances were low with IUI so thats why we did IVF and that old RE said that even though my blood work shows I have plenty of eggs and good quality that there was nothing he could do to make me produce more follies new RE didnt believe that...Also I told new RE that the one egg that did fertilize that the old RE said it had extra choromosone he said how did he know did he do a biopsy I told him I didnt know he just called me the day after retrival to tell me that..he said it takes days to do and get results from the biopsy so how could he know and with only 1 embie you dont do biopsy's...
I have to wait for AF next week and get my blood work done, hubbys semen analysis to and then probably mid Feb go in for the results.
New RE says he wants to do another Lap to make sure my tube is still open and to try and unblock my right one as well..I told him that my other RE didnt even want to repeat my Lap that he said he was sure that it was still open..While Im not looking forward to it (since it took a while for me to recover from the 1st one) it will be worth it..
Also he asked me how much we paid for the IVF I told him $12,700 he was shocked and said his clinic charges $6,000 also he asked how much I paid for my IUI it was $3,600 at old clinic he was even more shocked and said his is $300 he said he didnt know why they would charge so much...
When I was looking for an RE I was originally going to go to this clinic but didnt cause my insurance was out of network..but he is the best in the state here..actually he invented something (cant remember what it was) for the Lap procedures...Also my brother in law and his wife had gone here about 4yrs ago and they have 2 little girls..
So all in all looks like I will be doing a Lap then he said he will either put me on clomid or injections and IUI's ..He said since we pay out of pocket he will do whatever he can to make sure he helps us bring our cost down...Im just so hopeful now..I always have this gloom of doom over me but feel very positive..Sorry this is so long..
Thanks again for all your support!!
Love,
Lily and SSBD

Lily,
I am so happy you got the second opinion!!  Your new RE sounds very reasonable and I agree that noone should pay over 300-350 for an IUI.  We paid $250.

I hope your second lap will help to bring you closer to a bfp!!

Sounds like a great plan.  Clomid + low dose injectibles + IUI worked for me on the 3rd try with borderline eggs and borderline sperm.  And it is twins!   Good Luck!
