I'm so sorry to hear your bad news. My heart goes out to you and your wife :0(
I am so sorry! I was really hoping and praying for much better news. I have had several mc's myself and I know how hard it is. Go spoil your wife and keep her mind on the good things in life!!!
Best of luck and hope you guys get your dream come true really soon!!!
Hello everyone. Not good news here. It is a blighted ovum and expected to pass within the next few weeks. She is very upset, but I sort of saw it coming. Thank you all for your input and prayers.
First of what a great husband and very knowledgeable too!!
I too am also waiting to here your good news Adam!!! I really hope everything has turned out for the best!!!
Good luck and keep us posted!
ive been waiting to hear too, he must be extrememly happy and too busy to put up an update =)
any update??? Did you see your baby??
Well, no real medical updates. She is still feeling really pregnant and having all the signs. Her morning sickness is getting worse as is her aversion to certain foods and smells. Her boobs aren't growing like they did with her first child, which is disappointing to me!!! Haha! ;) Otherwise she feels fine and she says not to be worried. I'll let everyone know when we find out more on Thursday.
Thank you. I'll just have to wait till Thursday I guess.
By the way the tilted uterus thing is not true. I have a tilted uterus and they saw what they needed to see when I was about 5 weeks pregnant (i.e. ges. sac.)
In one pregnancy they didn't find anything in my tubes or uterus either at 6 week ultrasound and it turned out to be an abnormal developing pregnancy. However, my hcg started out at about 6 and at that point it was about 350 or so. It should have been like your wifes...much more higher!! That's why i don't think this is the same situation.
You've got a pregnancy going on somewhere and they really should be seeing something. Best you can do is go back for another one.
Well the hcg number looks really good for where she's at. It's very weird, however, that they aren't able to find anything.
I would still insist on a follow up ultrasound a week from your last one.
I think you said the ultrasound was transvaginal (which to make sure we're on the same page is the ultrasound that goes inside of the vagina, not the kind they rub abcross you abdomen) so I'm perplexed as to why nothing was found. When you're wife goes back in if you get an ultrasound in a week, the gestational sac should almost be 3.0 cm. That's fairly large and I see no reason why it wouldn't be seen with a transvaginal ultrasound.
Maybe you're having problems with the ultrasound because of faulty equipment. Here's another link with sizes. So you can see things are small, but not that small.
The hcg looks good so I would say it doesn' look like she's miscarrying based on that. That's a pretty high hcg. I was hoping it would be over 7000 and it is....so that's a good sign.

To summarize my point, HCG looks good, get another ultrasound before 10 weeks, hopefully a week from the last one, transvaginal ultrasounds this early in pregnancy are better, and hopefully you're not dealing with faulty equipment, and I don't think this is ectopic - the hcg doenst tend to get that high if ectopic.
Please keep us posted!
Ok. I'm trying to relax and enjoy it. It just all seems so off to me.
The numbers sound great. I think at this point you need to trust your wife and her doctor. Stop stressing yourself out and enjoy the fact that you are going to be a Daddy.
That's what my wife told me, but I've been reading about it and finding that it isn't true that a tipped uterus makes things harder.
That is true that if it's tilted it can be harder to see. With levels like that they will see the sac, pole, and a hb on Thursday.
Her hcg level was 34022. Her doctor said she's not too worked because my wife's uterus is tilted so I guess that means it's harder to see stuff. She's going in next Thursday for another scan. What do you all think? Be honest please.
Thanks so much. This is the kind of stuff I want to find. Thanks a lot.
By the way her hcg level should be be close to 7,650 at least when she was 6.5 weeks pregnant. If your hcg is very low it could be a problem. Or you are just completely off on when you conceived.
Here's a link http://www.*****************.org/duringpregnancy/hcglevels.html
Also...as far as implantation goes...this would throw pregnancy off maybe one or three days. Implantation occurs about 7 to 14 days after ovulation and most of they time at about 9 or 10 days after ovulation. So yes when you took your home pregnancy test implantation already occurred.
Quick little less.....ovulation occurs and egg fertilizes within 24 hours, egg floats through tube for about 5 to 7 days, fertilized embryo comes of the tube and floats in uterus for 1 to 3 days, embryo implants and starts to produce hcg, hcg shows up in urine about 2 - 3 days later. So as far as implantation affectng anything it really just affects date hcg will show up on hm pregnancy test, can show up as early as day 7 be definitley by day 14 from ovulation. It won't throw off your ultrasound.
I saw that you say you think you're wife may have gotten pregnant on 2/23 to 2/24. I assume this means at the time of conception and when fertilization occurred.
So you are right, you should be seeing something by now.
I'm not sure why they didn't mention the wife's hcg level. that is certainly odd. I would insist on getting that hcg level. It should be pretty high about this point. If it's lower than maybe the pregnancy is developing properly or your wife didn't get pregnant on the date you think. To come back in 10 weeks is ridiculous. I'd call up the doctor and tell them you spoke to a medical professional who told you that you should be seeing gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole and possibly the fetal heart beat at 6.5 weeks. ANd that you DEMAND to have another ultrasound in a week. Because it could be possible that this is a tubal pregnancy and/or the pregnancy isn't developing properly.
For what's it worth...you should be seeing something at this point. The heartbeat would be borderline...But if you're wife is 6.5 weeks pregnant at the time of the ultrasound than you should have seen the gestational sac, fetal pole and yolk sac. They should have been able to determine that it was an intrauterine pregnancy.
The gestational sac is seen earliest before anything else and can usally be seen when the hcg level is at 1000. Which in general would be 5 weeks into the pregnancy. And wehn I am referring to weeks into the pregnancy, this include the two weeks prior to ovulation. It's really from the the last menstrual period. So basically the gestational sac should be seen at least a week since the missed period.
So unless you are a week off with where you think you're wife should be as far as pregnancy goes you should at the very least have seen the gestational sac. This shows up early and shows up first.
Check out this website. http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/
This says gestational sac at 4 1/2 weeks gestation and yolk sac at 5 weeks.
LOL well I hope your not trying to imply that there might have been some other guy in the picture. In the right conditions sperm can live for days. Because it's so early and they can't do an ultrasound dating yet you'll just have to wait it out. I sill don't think you have anything to worry about.
sperm can live 2-4 days, so maybe she ovulate on 2/26-2/28. She got positive on 3/15 is about 14-16 day post ovulate. Even she is very regular, but maybe this time it took her a bit longer like 31 days instead of 28 days.
I would be relax because it still too early
best regard
Hmmm, i guess that could be, but I don't know how she would have ended up pregnant then. We didn't have sex except for the 24th or 25th of Feb. 4 or 5 days is a long time for sperm to just hang out and wait for an egg to fertilize!! For her dates I'm going off that we know her LMP of Feb 10th and we know date of conception would be 24th or 25th. Also, she was on the pill when it happened, so her cycle is a very regular 28 day cycle.
if she got a positive on HPT on 3/15/09 this means it's still too early to see a gest. sac. Maybe she ovulated around 3/1/09, so she is about 5 weeks. She should see at least something by 4/8/09 then.
Congratulations.
Of course I'll update everyone. She hasn't told me anything if she heard yet. It is a pretty sensitive issue because she feels like i'm not trusting her gut instincts and not trusting her doctor. She understands that i'm worried but she insists that I just trust her and the doctor and that if there was a problem one of them will know.
