Initial Appointment

I'm 27 and my husband and I have been ttc for 11 months.  I recently made an appointment with my ob-gyn to try to figure out what's going on.  What can I expect at this first appointment?  Just bloodwork?  My doctor wanted me to try for a year before coming in.  I do believe I'm ovulating based on my bbt charts and we have had perfectly timed intercourse according to my charts.  I'm actually not totally giving up on this cycle.  I'm 12 dpo and spotted yesterday with pinching and pulling feelings in my right ovary area on 10 dpo.  I always spot a couple days before AF, so I'm figuring she's on the way if I continue to spot today. So far nothing, so we'll see.  Every time I get my hopes up though... :(  Any insight to the beginnings of the infertility/fertility process would be helpful.  I'm trying to stay positive!

I think there are some standard blood tests that are done initially - and like Helen said - a HSG is also pretty standard to make sure your tubes are open and check out the shape of your uterus. This test can only be done on certain days of your cycle - just after you have your period - like days six through ten I think.  I met with a specialist and they ordered a bunch of tests - HSG and some blood work - also a semen analysis for my DH.  It took a few weeks for all this to get done and for the office to get the results back - then we met again to discuss the results.  Good luck!

Your doc will probably suggest a blood test for you to check whether you O and the quality of your eggs and a s/a for your dh.  If everything is normal you will probably do an HSG test to check if your tubes are open.
