Anyone stop nexium with success

Has anyone stopped using nexium with success. How long did it take and how did you do it?

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  With what conditions are you talking about?  Are you talking about stopping nexium but starting on some other PPI or on an H2 blocker?  Is this for treating GERD or something else?

Has your doctor done any tests to see what is going on with your acidity problems? Doctor said for you to loose weight and you did so I'm guessing it will be safe for you to try to taper off of your medicine but advise your doctor of your intentions.

Well one thing to keep in mind is rebound reflux (your reflux will be worse when first coming off of the PPI).  You can try slowly tapering the Nexium to see if you can get off of it.

I lost 65 lbs. and have no reflux for about 6 mos. I would like to stop Nexium forever. I realize I may have to take something in place of it. I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis. I have been on Nexium for at least 10 years. Anyone out there who's been able to quit Nexium, let me know how and how long it took. Thanks
