Burst appendix complications

my son had an emergency appendectomy that had burst and they had to remove some of his colon. He is 27 years old and they had him in the hospital for four days administered iv antibiotics but did not send him home with any oral antibiotics He was back in the hosptial because of an infection in his abdominal cavity...no big abcesses, he has now been in the hospital for five days and has received flagyl, levoflaxin(?), and two days of cipro anitbiotics intravenously. The doctor has released him but has not issued him any oral antibiotic follow up, is this right?

thank you for your advice. We did consult another nurse and they put him on cipro for ten days. He is doing very well!

No it's not my uncle had the same. They sent him home with pain medicine and medicine to make sure there would be no infections. I would speak to the nurse about this, and she can talk to the doctor, or prescribe it herself:)
