Can Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth return after treatment?

I've been diagnosed with small intestinal bacteria overgrowth after 8 years of chronic diarrhea and multiple tests. I went to University of Michigan Hospital where the doctors performed a Hydrogen Breath Test. It was positive. I just finished the Cipro and probiotic. My question is this, since small intestinal bacteria overgrowth can be caused by taking acid blocking medicine like Nexium or Prilosec, will the bacteria come back since I continue to take Prilosec for GERD? What other medication can I take to ease the symptoms of GERD?
Thank you for your time.

The bacteria might come back, however, I recommend that you continue on the medication for GERD (I think all of these do that) and just go back on an antibiotic when your symptoms return.  Keep on continuing to take a probiotic.
