Colonoscopy Wait Time

I've had 3 episodes of bright red blood on stool and on toilet paper over the last 8 months.  Doctor wants to do colonoscopy.  I'm all for it.  But i have to wait 9 weeks for the colonoscopy.  This seems excessive amount of time to wait.  I'm constantly worried that this may be a serious problem and I would like to have this procedure sooner.  Is 9 weeks too long to wait?

I don't think you're being a wimp, it is normal to be worried.  Although this is just my opinion, and it is always best to get tests done ASAP, if you are only having bleeding occasionally (assuming the bleeding is only small amounts) then 9 weeks won't cause any damage to you.

The dr did find h. pylori in one of the test.  I was treated with 2 weeks of 2 antibotics and pepto. I've had a FOB done that was negative.  I also blood work done that was all normal.    The dr also did a digital rectal exam and found nothing abnormal.  I think i'm just being a wimp! But sometime the mind just gets going!!

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I think that the answer to this depends.  First, if it has only happened 3 times in 8 months then that is really uncommon of an occurrence.  Second, it depends on the amount of blood that comes out each of these times.  Third, it depends on what other tests have been done.
