Constant stomach discomfort-everyday

From may of this year-2008 i have been experiencing a burning sensation below my left rib cage. It seems that when i take very long to eat it becomes more pronounced-noting that it is always present. Sometimes eating seems to alleviate the burning 'a little', but sometimes it does not. The fact is that the  burning as become the norm. Also i have come to find that i have to be eating around the clock-literally-like every 2 hours. Take for example that i eat 8:00 in the morning, by 10:00 i start feeling hungry as though i had nothing earlier and then comes the burning. If at that time-10:00 i choose not to eat and wait lets say until 11:00 the burning discomfort gets worse. In addition to that i pass wind- gas quite frequently even as i speak. Frankly I'm worried. What is the matter with me? I've gone to one doctor in particular who made me do a Bari-meal exam to find out if i have ulcer. the results indicated nothing of such, just that i have an inflamed stomach. But i think it is more than that. He gave me zantac and some thing else but those pills just did not help. On follow up   visits, if memory serves me right he prescribed the same tablets-still no change in my condition. I should also mention that i think i might have received other pills -names of which i can not remember-but no change. The last time i saw him we agreed that i will do an X-Ray. The point of this, is that i just would like a diagnosis given the information i have provided. Is whatever that is wrong with me threatening? Because i think whatever the problem is, it is very very serious. Please help me with your expertise. I beg you.  I almost forgot to mention that while in high school i never use to drink tea in the mornings, nor did i eat lunch. this trend also continued while at university which i just completed, but less frequent as in high school. Could this irregular eating and eating of one meal -dinner 'a lump some'  be a major contributory to my problem?

I hope it's just gastritis because then it's better than ulcer. a bet worried because i saw the doctor yesterday and he's saying it seems as though i'm in the early stage of its development. i just pray what ever it is it can be remedied before it's TOO LATE.
Thanks for your opinion, it means so much.

Thanks a lot for the concern. i went back to the doctor yesterday-to be exact a different one and he said it sounds as if i'm developing ulcer. In that case he said he'll have to do another bari-meal exam before he refers me to a specialist. Plus he gave me a new tablet which appears to work. I'll have to keep my fingers cross that this one will help. oh, he did say i have to watch carefully what i eat, pretty much like what you are saying.
