Continuous Abdominal Upper RIght SIde Pain

Hi.  I am a 32 year old female with stomach issues. I have had a Gallbladder ultrasound, HIDA scan, and Abdominal CT scan done, all with "normal" results.   I was recently tested for H. pylori infection and found out that I was positive.  I finished the 14 course of antibiotics only to have my upper right side abdominal pain return.  I am getting re-tested for the H.pylori again this week (just to see if the bacteria is indeed gone). I had an upper endoscopy done and that revealed mild gastritis and showed bile in my stomach.  I continue to suffer from pain in my upper abdominal right side, just under my ribs.  The pain is a gnawing sensation that radiates through to my back (in my ribs). When my back becomes affected by this pain it feels like a muscle that had been torn. At times the pain will radiate to my mid-lower right side with a stabbing sensation.  My discomfort is always present and it has affected my quality of sleep.  In fact, it sometimes hurts to lay on my right side. Next step, my doctor wants me to do the Hydrogen Lactulose Breath Test to see if I have another type of bacteria in my intestines.  If that returns negative, he has mentioned doing laparscopic surgery to see what really going on inside me.  I feel so discouraged, can amyone offer me some medical advice or suggstions.
Thank you!

Hi, I am from India and I have been undergoing the same symptoms that you have mentioned for the past 7 months...My gastro enterologist has done complete blood work...including liver function test..ultrasound, xray and endoscopy...everything turned out to be normal...finally he thought that i am imagining the whole thing and asked me to go on anti-depressants for a month...i was at my wits end about a month ago when i came across an article about wheat allergy...i stopped eating all wheat products and like magic my pain subsided ( gotten less but not completely gone away ...i think this cud be because i am eating some thing that might contain gluten)...after this i have tried having wheat only to find the pain return with full force...i am still confused as to what my real problem is...but you might want to try this to know if you are undergoing some kind of allergy caused by food...try avoiding some foods and note it down in a book...come back here with results...all the best...bye

My daughter (17 yrs old) is experiencing constant pain in her upper right abdomen. We went to the dr. and were sent for blood tests. Any advice? Her symptoms seem similar to what you folks have described.

I am having all of the same symptoms you described.  I have had the ultrasound, and the HIDA test.  Today I am having the CT Scan, and on Thursday I am having the Endoscope.  My doctor tested my blood for increase in Lipase from the pancreas.  I was also started on Nexium.  I wish you luck.  It's been 3 weeks since this started and I am feeling very discouraged also.
