Surgery or not?

I recently had a sonogram of my gallbladder and they found 2 polyps. The largest of the 2 is 10 mm. I have been in pain for several months: stomach, heartburn, pain under the rib cage, belching, especially when sitting and after eating. My gastroenterologist is downplaying the polyps, only suggesting we observe them to make sure they don't get too big. He also said polyps don't caused pain - that removing the gallbladder will probably not eliminate my pain.I do have IBS and Reflux, but this pain is different - more nonstop. What do you think?

I had a polyp show up on an URQ ultrasound. 6 months later it was gone. I had had GB problems for 23 years but they never could figure it out. I finally had a HIDA scan and they discovered a low functioning GB, which appears normal in all the regular tests.

I had my GB out 3/10/10 and they discovered signs of chronic infection and a strawberry GB (cholesterolosis). Cholesterol collects on the surface of the GB and can appear like polyps. High cholesterol does not cause this.
Reta

"A strawberry gallbladder refers not to the shape, but to the surface appearance of the mucosa of the gallbladder, when multiple small collections of triglycerides and cholesterol esters within the lamina propria of the gallbladder wall.

Strawberry gallbladder is diffuse cholesterolosis and is a common idiopathic non-neoplastic condition. It is not currently visible on imaging.

When cholesterosis is focal, it forms cholesterol polyps."http://radiopaedia.org/articles/strawberry_gallbladder

I had all the symptoms of gallbladder problems, all my tests were normal except HIDA scan.. after months of pain, and weightloss etc I had mine out in January and I feel great!!  They also told me they werent 100% it would solve my problems, once surgeon got in, was full of scar tissue... sometimes they dont know for sure until they get inside... I say go for it.  Just make sure to eat a healthy diet after, and non fat dairy and skim milk... will help the recovery.  As well as digestive enzymes help break down the fat as well after.
