I am a usually healthy 28 yr old female.  For the past month now (since June3 2010) I've been real ill. Every time that i eat, instantly , I feel very nauseated and have the feeling to burp constantly. Seriously, the most I can eat is about two to three bites of something, then the symptoms kick in. I'm at the point now were I've lost 8 lbs!!! in a month. First off i
m 5'7", my normal weight is 121, and now it's 113! I'm scared, frustrated and helpless at this point. I've been to the doctor soo many times, and I feel as though they're treating me like a 'case'. I've had the EKG(camera in your stomach) done, an ultrasound of my gall bladder, and a blood test to check for H.Pilori. I'm at my witts end! I hate feeling starving hungry all the time, and very week. I have three kids to take care of and a job, and i can barely do that anymore. Also, the docs. put me on regulin (sp), omeprozal (sp). and now I'm on Prilosec OTC. nothing is working!!! Someone please help me, I'm so frustrated! :(  P.S. Eight years ago I was diagnosed with a 'hidden' ulcer, in the same spot in my stomach that hurts now (right below my breast bone, mid stomach), so I was taking Protonix and I was only on that for a couple of months and it went away.........

The hida scan is a test to determine GB function. The GI doc orders it.  You can ask him if he will send you to get one.    You lie on a table and they first inject a radioactive tracer in your vein .  After about an hour or so they visualize the gallbladder on the screen. Then they inject you with CCK.  It is a substance that simulates a fatty meal.  This is to test how well your GB is contracting.  The normal EF is 35% - 75%.  If below 35% then you may be referred to a surgeon for GB remova since it is not contracting properly.  They say that if the CCK injection causes you to have the symptoms then its a good chance its your gallbladder causing the issues and you have a better chance of surgery fixing the problem.  

If you have copies of your thyroid tests like tsh t3 and t4 can you post them and the reference ranges.

P.S....what is a hida scan, and how do you go about doing that? And what exactly is a low injection fraction? Sorry, I'm new to this stuff...can ya tell? lol

Yes, they actually test my thyroid annually, because I'm usually 120lb range anyway, and it runs in my family(over active), but it always comes back negative. And, they did a gall bladder ultra sound on me, and that was fine.......so, I went to a different doc today and he is sending me to a Gastro specialist, but I won't be able to get in until Aug., which ***** because I'm losing weight(due to the fact that i can't eat properly). Before all this happened, people were amazed that I ate as much as I did, and never gained weight. I miss eating :( Hopefully they find out something soon, because I can not live like this much longer :(

Have they tested your gallbladder with a hida scan?  It may not be functioning normally and this can reveal that.  Many people with a low ejection fraction report nausea as a symptom.  If your ejection fraction is low then surgery is generally recommended by your doctor.

  Have you ever had your thyroid tested?  Hyperthyroid occasionaly can cause nausea and it definitely causes you to lose weight.

So, what other symptoms did you have? I'm still struggling with NO correct diagnosis. I thought I was lactose intolerant, than allergic to gluten, so I switched foods, and the same thing keeps happening. now, I'vel lost about 12 pounds, and starving all the time. The docs wanted to put me on anxiety meds, but really who wouldn't be anxious when they are losing all this weight that they don't need too. I'm 5'7" usually weigh in at about 120, but now I'm at 109! i look anorexic, and I hate it. I was just starting to gain weight then all of this started happening. it is very depressing for me :( . This is a six week disease and counting........i'm so upset and frustrated..........

The symptoms you're describing are the same as mine and I was diagnosed as celiac (immune reaction to gluten). Even a trace of gluten will make me feel nauseous. I was rarely actually sick, but the constant feeling of nausea made me not want to eat.

I did have many other symptoms as well though!

But a simple blood test will confirm a diagnosis (or not). It's worth a try.
