Is colonoscopy with a platelt count of 42 safe?

My PCP found blood in my recent occult blood stool test and strongly suggests going for colonoscopy. I am a 73 years old survivor od recent Hodgkins Lymphoma and right now my platelet count is only 42K. I was concerned about the risks of going for colonoscopy with such low platelets. My oncologist has suggested to get platelet infusion before colonoscopy. What should I do?
