Liver Hemangioma

I just discovered this sight, and was reading your conversations about liver hemangioma. This encouraged me to write, as I was just told a couple of weeks ago that I have a Liver Hemangioma. I was having an ultrasound done on my gallbladder, because I felt the I may have had gall stones or something. Well, the ultrasound didn't detect anything wrong with that, but picked up on the hemangioma. I'm still not convinced that I don't have gallstones, as I'm still having pain. Not hard pain, but just enough to bother me. I feel it in my upper right abdomen, and sometimes it goes around to my back.It seems worse after I eat fatty foods. Sure seems like gallbladder trouble to me. My question is how accurate are ultrasounds in determining gall stones. I've heard that it doesn't always pick up on it. Can anyone verify this? Looking forward to some feedback here. Thanks.

I just had a ct scan and ultrasound for similar concerns - both were clear for the gallbladder, but showed a large liver hemangioma.  I also have had right-epigastric plus back pain.  My doc agreed that my prob sounded like gallbladder, but I had a lot of normal films.  He tested me today for H pylori (in case it's an ulcer) and for celiac disease.  He told me that people who are sensitive to dairy can also have celiac, so if your fatty foods that relate to the pain are dairy-related, maybe this may be a possibility for you(?).

Also, I still wonder if the hemangioma is causing pain itself - I'm getting a second opinion on that . . .

Hi, I had the ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and it picked up on one large and one very small in the common duct. If you still have the same pain I would ask for another one or cat scan. Did they take alot of pics? Sometimes it can be the person doing it and not picking up on it. Good luck, let me know how it goes. Sandy
