Loose bowels and anxiety?

Hello

I there a link between loose bowels and anxiety?

My story is I took a course of antibiotics in the new year, and have had loose bowels since then.

Now I only go once a day, but i get a sudden urge and the motion is loose, not diahrroea, but loose.

I have had a stool test at the GP and it was clear.

Could the antibiotics have damaged the good bacteria?
I feel like I have a constant nervous tummy.I have been under a great deal of worry since Christmas too, I had a potential serious heart problem.  I was negative for this (thank God) but there is the chance I may have passed it on to the kids.  So Im still very worried about it.

My new fear now is that there is something seriously wrong, like bowel cancer, because of my loose bowels.  It doesnt help that my cousin currently has bowel cancer.

It just seems to be one thing after the other.
I am waiting CBT for my anxiety and Im on anti depressants.

What would my next step be?

Thank you for reading this.

Liz

to answer your question. Yes. anxiety can play a huge role in bowel movements.
And yes, antibiotics could, and probably did screw up the balance in your gut of good bacteria. I suggest picking up a strong probiotic (i suggest megafood 50 billion cultures). You should notice an improvement after starting to take those.
