My kind 4.5 yrs

My kid 4.5 yrs started complaining of stomach pain and diarrhea four days back when the doctor prescribed ofloxacin and metronidazole suspension which had some effect in the first two days but worsened later.

Subsequently we got his stool examined which tested positive with RBCs, mucous, pus cells and tiny specs of blood. The docter then gave ofloxacin and ornidazole suspension.

Now what is the difference between the two medicines and how much time should one wait to see the result of the new medicine which has not shown any effect even 3-4 hrs after first doze. I'm really worried

Please advise ASAP. Thank you in anticipation

thanks mammo,
I got the culture done and found the cause which was mucoid e coli , resistant to all the antibiotics we had given so far ( ofloxacin and co-trimoxazole). Now we're giving cefuroxime which has helped a lot.

My piece of advice to everyone, do not start an antibiotic without a culture even if the doctor prescribes it only takes 48 hrs.... else might land in a mess

What are they saying is wrong?  Have they ran any tests? Did they say what they are treating him for? Keep him hydrated with the diarrhea, and call your doctor and ask about this.
