Need some help

I am a 33 yr old female have stomach pains for the past two months. I am an avid runner(not sure if that has anything to do with it).My pain is more on my rib cage area that moves around my abdominal area. I am currently seeing a GI doctor and finally had an endoscopy done. Results-a bit of esophagitis, everthing else was normal . I also seem to have excessive flatulence with foul smell and  feeling to defacate from time to time and a bad taste in my mouth .My doc gave a list of foods i should avoid and eat (IBS diet) but i do not fell any different. I am really concerced and am wondering if anybody has had this kind of problem before. I am seeing my GI doc in two weeks.Any suggestions as to what i can ask my doctor?

Have you tried cutting out high fat foods? Maybe try light carbohydrate food based meals so you are not over laoding your gut. Have you tried different running surfaces? Do you run long distance? Do you eat before you run? Are you taking enough water? Do you run in hot temperatures? All  the above can have adverse effects on your bowels. Are you drinking coffee? When you run your guts get a real hammering in the way that they move around a lot. This can cause them to get pulled and stretched a bit. You mention pain under your ribs? This is where your abdominal wall or muscle attaches so you could be stretching it. Do you do any ab exercises? Have you got good posture when you are relaxed VS when you run? Most women have lower back curvature or kyphosis. This causes shortening of the back muscles and stretched abs. Have you had any children?

Again you may have an over tight abdominal muscle if you are seated a lot.

I would start with changing your diet to all fresh foods and natural. Bad smells means bad foods that is causing you GI distress. I pass a bit of wind when I run but no smells! Try and have a clean diet for a week or 2  and write it down. You may be lactose sensitive and see what happens maybe a blood teste for allergies.

Also stay hydrated and avoid high sugar drinks such as gatorade etc unless you have finished your run as this can cause an imbalance in your gut with the sugar.

Would be good to hear how you go. Good luck.
