Only 28 and they found a colon polyp

I am only 28 yrs old. I had a large polyp removed from my colon yesterday and sent for tesing. I have had dibilitating pain and diarrhea for months and that was why I had a colonoscopy. I remember the picture looking as though it had balack spots on the polyp. Should I be worried? What is the liklihood of it being cancerous? I do have a strong family history of bowel issues and cancer.

if they remove the precancerous polyps it reduces your risk of cancer by something like over 80% so that's great that you had it done
I believe the colonoscopy also tests for UC/Crohn's

How did they rule that out?  Unless you find another diagnosis, it is almost impossible to rule out IBS.

Yes, they ruled that out as well.

This could be something like IBS.  Have you doctors mentioned this at all?

They just ruled out all GI issues. I have had CT scan of the abdo/pelvic area, ultrasound of the gall bladder, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and lots of blood work. So far eveything shows normal. I have been in chronic pain in my abdo/pelvic are everyday since October. The pain is more toward the right side, leading into my back. It is not kidney stone, or kideny infection. I have also been treated for PID, even though it isn't that.  I have not even been able to go back to work, and still no answers. I am starting to think it is either neurological, or some type of pain syndrome.

I'm glad it isn't cancer.  Becuase you are having diarrhea, it is possible that your pain is related to a GI issue.  What other tests have you had?

The results came back and it isnt cancer. The GI doctor isnt even so sure it is a GI issue. They have not been able to figure out the cause of my pain, and I feel like they aren't listening to me enough.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  At your age, it is unlikely that it is cancer, but there is still a possibility.  Does your family history include colon cancer at a young age?
