Pain after Pancreatic Stent

On 22 Oct 08 I had a Stent placed into the main pancreatic duct due to stricture of the duct.  I have had these before without subsequent pain.  This time I am having quick shooting pains in the upper right abdomen and toward the back.  I have had 17 bouts with acute pancreatitus and I know these pains are not due to having pancreatitus at this time.  The pains occur rather frequently, i.e. several times each hour and seem to occur when I bend toward the right or lay on my right side.  Due you think there may be something wrong with the stent placement.  I am supposed to keep this in for 3 months.  Can someone comment?

Jpmed, the pain can be due to the location in which the stent is placed. A lot of people complain about twinges and pain when they move. It may be something that you'll have to be careful of until it's removed. However, you may want to call your doc and tell him/her what is going on.

Well I would say most likely it is caused by something the Doctors did that day. After all Hershey Medical is a training hospital and as someone who has been through numerous surgeries at many teaching hospitals they don't always get it right. I would get it looked at immediately to make sure it is not something that could cause serious damage.

This has been occurring since day 1 (Oct 22) of the surgery. I had it done at Hershey Medical Center, PA.  I live about 105 miles from there.

How long have you had the pain? Is it since the surgery or more recently?
