Pain after upper endoscopy / EGD

Hi, I just underwent an upper endoscopy and biopsy yesterday for some stomach pain I've had for several years. I haven't gotten test results back but so far have been diagnosed with chronic gastritis and reflux esophagitis. My question is about how I am feeling right now. From all I've read there should be no pain or discomfort after the procedure but I feel like someone punched me in the stomach and I'm nauseated. I wasn't having a flare-up at the time of the procedure but I'm wondering if somehow having the scope in there irriated my stomach lining. The pain isn't severe which I guess would indicate a complication like a perforation and I have no fever or anything but I can't come up with any stories from anyone about not feeling well after this procedure. I called the Dr's office and the nurse just said it was because they had to put air into my stomach for the procedure and because I didn't eat yesterday until about 1pm . I just don't know. I don't feel gassy... Anyone else have this experience?

I had an endoscopy yesterday (21st August) as I have been in pain since having a lunch infection starting febrary.

Taken into hospital via ambulance twice where they said it was gastric, pain every day, 40g omerprazole.

Had the scan, doc said everthing normal, although taken a biopsy. Feeling extremly confused, still in alot of pain.

Any ideas????

What I ment to say was I had a lung infection, not lunch sorry. LOL

The pain I experience is pain in the chest, hiccups everyday, (1 every hr or 2), pain in the duodenal area and under my right rid, so much so it takes my breath. Acid reflux also and quiet windy.

Anyone else experience these symptons?

I had an upper endoscopy yesterday after months of continuous belching seemingly stemming from an incident in March (which involved chest pain, faint feeling, extreme weakness, neurological manifestations with arm/shoulder tingling = 2 ER visits, complete cardio work-up). Any way, the Dr. found gastritis, duodenitis, a gastric ulcer and sprue like changes in the duodenum.
I hadn't had any pain for a couple of months but now I have back pain between the shoulders, stomach pain right below the sternum and even more severe belching, all of which seem to come in 'waves' or episodes that last seconds and occur with varying frequency.
Can anyone relate? How long did it take for the pain to go away!?

I just had the simple endoscopy because I have had trouble swallowing. Personally I think they tell everyone it doesn't hurt afterward because no one would ever have it done. Unfortunately I also have pancreatitis and woke up to a horrid attack. Not a great start to the simple procedure.
I then started with pain in my throat and chest and stomach. I could hardly drink water and eating was like rocks going down my throat. It still feels as if I have a lot of spasms starting from when I try to swallow all the way down to my stomach. Of course the Dr. says don't worry about it but it hurts like hell. I feel like all's I can do is whine and complain. And yes to Prolapsed, my neck hurts to the touch as well. I did have many polyps removed and they stretched my esophagus. I am hoping things will be ok within the next few days but it isn't looking very good. Lots of spasms all up and down my throat as well as pain. I wish DRs. would just tell the truth about what to expect so I don't think I am losing what is left of my mind! Good wishes to you all out there who are suffering some sort of pain or issue that "cannot be explained"! I feel for you..... Keep the faith, smiling at you all,
Ladymac
