Pain in Sternum

I am a 34 year old female with a very good health history. Last week I was ill and I vomited once. After this episode I have noticed that my sternum feels like it is bruised but when I touch it I can not really produce any pain to speak of. I have had bouts of heart burn over the past few years and been told that I have gastric disorders. This pain in my chest will not go away it is like a dull pain that is constantly there. I don't know how to explain it other than it is very annoying and seems to bother me all the time.
I don't know if this is gerd or something like that, if it is coronary related or just simply that I irritated the sternum and it is still trying to heal itself. When I bring my shoulders forward I can produce a little more pain than normal and when I bend over I notice it a little more. I just want this to go away so that I can feel normal again. Also the concern that it might have something to do with my heart worries me. It also seems that my left arms feels a little weaker than usual but to say that there is a crushing or terrible pain I would be wrong. Just annoying, if anyone knows what this could be, could you please let me know so that I can get it to go away... Thanks

i would say you have hiatal hernia of the lateral esophogeal sphincter mbunting, this can cause the pain you are describing and cause pain in the chest because the acid escapes the stomach very easily when there is a hernia present so Mbunting have you had any history of back problems or had a cough in the last six weeks...or VERY heavy vomiting...

and crambone i think its your spine... im studying in med school right now... i think you probably have a misplaced costo-transverse joint which can induce pressure onto the costo-sternal joint and induce extreme pain, you need to see a doctor of osteopathy for a strong diagnosis in this aspect...

i ahve alot of the same symptoms,i have had tests for everything from pancreas to liver to ulcer to god knows what elce....diabetes and hepatitis,,,,nothing!!!!!
i dont know what mine is either,im thinking gerd, plus something elce,,i just dont see acid comming up doing all that...i know you can get esophigeal spasms,,,but this is constant and dull,,,i do have worse "attacks" once in awhile,,pain direct center sternim, that radiates into my back,,lasts a few minutes and goes away,,,these only happen once or 2 times a month though.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS FOR 10YEARS NOW!!!,,,SOME THINK ITS MY SPINE....SPINE??...who knows.

I have not had any light headed feelings or anything. But I noticed this morning after I ate breakfast that I feel like I am extremely full even though I ate very lightly. A Banana and a beagle. I also feel a burning sensation in the center of my chest and my left arm seems to be bothering me a little more. But to say that I have felt any palpation's or anything I haven't. I just don't feel that well. My left shoulder is bothering me also like it is tingly. That is the only way that I can describe it.  It feels like I have to burp but there is nothing there. If I tighten my stomach muscles it feels as though I am on fire for a second and it goes away. this is all just really weird cant really pin point one thing exactly.

i would say GERD for first diagnosis, gerd can tend to act up when one bends over dude to gravity it just pulls the acid right out of the stomach, another possibilty is trauma induced costo-chondritis or trauma induced pre-cordial catch syndrome(AKA texidors twinge) if you feel light headed, feint, have any heart palpitations, fast heartbeat, or pain that radiates from chest to neck or arms... keep me posted and if i was you i would go to the doc this is very important to ensure no cardiac problems are presenting...
