Prilosec Help!

Is there an appropriate way of getting off of Prilosec? I have been taking it for almost two months and starting to think that all the symptoms I am experiencing are from the Prilosec. After all GI test have come back normal and all the test from my regular physician have come back normal, I want to quit Prilosec. The first month I was taking one 20mg pill in the morning and one 20mg at night. Now I am only taking one 20mg pill a day. Do I quit cold turkey?

You don't quit cold turkey unless you want blowback. What you're doing is perfect: cut the dose in half (from 2 a day to 1 a day). After a while, cut the dose in half again (to 1 every 2 days), After that point experiment taking it on a need-only basis, during periods when the acid starts kicking up.

As to what you can do instead, that all depends on the reason for your acid problem. Do you have GERD? Gastritis? Ulcers? H. Pylori? Gastroparesis? Your next move will depend on the answer to that. (Feel free to explain your history a bit. Maybe I can help.)

Good luck.

I have gastritis for a year and have been on all the meds in the book but none of them worked. I stopped cold turkey with no side effects. Since then I have come accross an oil (SIberian extravirgin Pin Nut oil). It comes from russia and is used for gastritis and ulcers. It is incredible. I have no pain and can eat many things I couldn't eat before. Here is the web site.  Good Luck.
