Rectal Mucus Discharge

A friend of mine has been complaining of stomach pains for the past week. The pain increases when she eats. It is mostly on the left side of her abdomen. Then she spends a substantial amount of tie in the bathroom with increased pain and releases loose stool that is mixed with a white mucus rectal discharge. I have a feeling this is serious but her parents wont admit her to see a doctor unless they're presented with some info. What are the possibilities of diseases and diagnostic tests with these symptoms.

Irritable Bowel syndrome, or an intolerance to something like lactose or food allergy. Her symptoms are similiar to mine. I am lactose intolerant and have IBS...I had ultrasounds, CAT scans, hidascan, several blood test and a colonoscopy as well as abdominal x-rays and these were all just to rule out things. Tell her to keep a food journal and see if a type of food is triggering her episodes. The journal really helps because then you can actually see what is happening and it will give proof to her parents. Have her also write down if in the journal if she has an episode ( use a different color ink so that you can distinguish food from bowel issues) Hope this helps

Thank you. I've been tring to do research and I've seen that there are many different types of IBS. But I am convinced that it could be both lactose intolerance and some form of IBS as you have said.
